What One Nutrition Client has Gained and Lost

After years of trying different diets and nutrition programs, this ESCF client realized that lasting change wasn’t about following a perfect plan—it was about building sustainable habits and changing her mindset.

Through nutrition coaching at East State CrossFit, she learned how to stay consistent, make progress without an “all or nothing” approach, and prioritize her health in a way that fits her life.

‍

"I knew a lot of things about eating healthy before. I have done various diets and programs for years since high school. However, I had an “all or nothing” mindset, so I was never consistent for long. Either I was on a program, following it really strictly, or I was totally off, eating greasy takeout, whole boxes of cookies, and pints of ice cream. Once I was “off track” I stayed off track for a while.

‍

This program started with a few simple suggestions for establishing habits. I got comfortable with some habits and then added on more week by week or month by month. It was flexible as far as my schedule, the foods I like, and what was manageable for my routine.

‍

Taking pictures of my food for the app so that Coach Karen can see them really helped me stay accountable. It helped me to be consistent. I have weekly check-ins where I’m encouraged to focus on my bright spots and not just dwell on things that weren’t 100% perfect. I can always ask questions to help make a plan when challenges come up. Monthly meetings, including taking my measurements, help me stay on track. I have made some kind of progress every month. In the past, if I was on a program and didn’t lose any weight, I gave up. Now, I can see that sometimes I haven’t lost many pounds on the scale, but I can see progress in my measurements and body composition. This really helps my motivation!

‍

The biggest win for me is that I feel great! I have lost pounds, inches, and body fat. My clothes fit better, I have less inflammation, and I feel strong during my workouts. I am eating and living in a healthier way than I ever have. Not only do I feel like I can sustain this, but I actually want to! I still enjoy treats sometimes but I don’t throw in the towel or go on a week long binge because I had one ice cream. I plan my treats mindfully, enjoy them, and move on.

‍

I appreciate how this program emphasizes mindset and keeping things simple! To anyone considering nutrition coaching at East State Crossfit, I would say that for me, it is an investment in myself, and I feel really good about making myself a priority so that I can continue to live a fun and joyful life!”
